A highly aromatic orange wine of the eastern varieties of Traminer and Devin. Devin in fact is an offspring of Gewurztraminer (itself a pink-hued mutation of Traminer in the first place) and Roter Veltliner. The grapes are given 4 weeks of maceration, providing tannin and body. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, no filtering but a fining with bentonite, very low sulfites added only at bottling. Brilliant notes of goldenberries, lychee nut, orange peels and smoked salt. The high-toned fruit is balanced by the tannin wonderfully for a vibrant and easy-drinking wine, not as heavy as some orange wines can be.
