A robust red with age that had us melting even in the dead of winter. The blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon might analytically suggests something Bordeaux-ish but this is definitely a different animal. It's clovey, salt and cocoa dusted black raspberry underpinned by a dark medicinal note that we're more familiar with in dry herbal liqueurs. It's burly, complex and begs for a hearty meal. Undoubtedly one that's rustic and gamey. -Matt
After working for years as a sommelier in Budapest and France, Csaba Malatinszky founded his small winery in Hungary’s southernmost wine region, Villány, in 1997. The winery is one of the most respected estates in Hungary today. It has been certified organic since 2009. Here we benefit from Csaba’s interest in trying out a sulfur-free, natural wine style in 2020.
