A highly portably packaged version of one of the best summertime refreshers in the world of wine. High-toned citrus and mineral-driven white with a light fizz. A colleague once told me Txakolina is like Vinho Verde with a new haircut and a pair of sunglasses, just that much cooler. Take it to the beach, on a hike or in the boat… really wherever.
Txakolina, pronounced chah-kuh-leena, is a light wine from the Basque Country of northern Spain. It is meant to be drunk young as fresh with a small yet noticeable prickle on the palate. Made of the local Hondarrabi Zuri grape with 10% each of the ‘French’ varieties Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, and Petit Corbu. Fermented with native yeast entirely in steel tanks. Xarmant is Txaklonia in the local style of the village of Álava, which has a less intense sparkle than other interitions, a quality that makes it all the more sessionable in our experience. - Tristen Gild
