The name of the estate refers to the dark organic material in soils, produced by the decomposition of vegetable or animal matter and essential to the fertility of the earth. Humus is de facto sign of healthy soils.
Wine Notes: Curtimenta translates to "tanning" but is colloquially used to point something out that is dark or tanned. Like the color of this orange wine.
The exact blend is 65% Touriga Nacional (juice) + 30% Sauvignon Blanc + 5% Arinto and Fernão Pires (skins).
Winemaking: A very unique vinification. The Touriga Nacional is direct-pressed whole-cluster, the Sauvignon is destemmed. The juices are then blended and macerate on Arinto and Fernão Pires skins for three months. The wine then ages nine months in oak and chestnut barrels.
