La Miccia is fermented in stainless steel tanks at cold temperatures to maximize the fruit character. It is fortified and sweetened with mistella, a mixture of estate Grillo must and brandy. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels which are consistently topped up, thus preventing oxidation, for five years.
La Miccia is the youngest of the three Marsala styles produced at De Bartoli and the only one not aged in the solera system.
