2021 Antonio Lopes Ribeiro 'Nina' Tinto, 750ml

This wine comes from a 60-year-old Dão vineyard where red and white grapes share the spotlight equally, fifty-fifty. Everything was picked by hand at the end of September and then tossed together in a traditional lagar for a good old-fashioned foot-tread on day one. Fermentation started naturally with no added yeast, helped along by a sprinkle of dried chestnut blossom flowers. After two weeks of bubbling away, the juice was pressed, aged in stainless steel for five months, and bottled without fining or filtration. Only 4000 bottles were made, each one numbered.

In the glass, it shows a pale, light red color with a fresh, energetic personality. Bright, youthful, and aromatic with super-fine tannins, it carries the complexity that only a field blend of native grapes can give. Serve it chilled with grilled fish, salads, or pasta for an effortless but characterful match.
